“We did it!”
There were joy and a feeling of accomplishment at Trinity Elementary School after 56 orchestra students finished their first instrumental concert on Jan. 20. They played “Bile ’Em Cabbage Down,” “Ode to Joy,” “Tribal Lament,” and “Baby Shark”.
Even the day after the concert, there was still talk about the remarkable experience, said orchestra teacher Megha Swamy. Comments ranged from “the orchestra was so nice” to “that concert was the best thing I’ve seen in years. It was so organized with the kids walking and playing. The behavior of the kids was excellent. Wow! I don’t know how you did it, but wow!”
Principal Michael Hilderbrand offered congratulations, saying, “The auditorium could have been mistaken for Carnegie Hall! Our fourth- and fifth-grade orchestra students played the house down under the masterful guidance of orchestra teacher Megha Swamy.
Congratulations to all of our musicians!”
Swamy proudly thanked Hilderbrand and Assistant Principal Bridget Merturi for their support, as well as the custodial staff, teacher’s aide Jasmine Dixon and the school’s security team. Join the audience by watching a video here: https://bit.ly/3G04cI8.
